Mental Health First Aid Course (12 Hours)

The Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training course is designed to empower participants with the knowledge and skills to assist individuals who may be facing mental health disorders or experiencing a mental crisis.

Originating in Australia, Mental Health First Aid was first introduced in 2001. It provides a systematic approach that enables the general public to identify and offer assistance to those encountering mental health issues at an early stage. Mental Health First Aid has gained widespread recognition and promotion worldwide. The MHFA program has been adopted and implemented in various countries, including the United Kingdom, Canada, Finland, Japan, and Singapore. Hong Kong, since 2005, has also embraced this training system

Teaching Materials & Certification

  • Participant with a 100% attendance rate will receive a certificate for completing the Mental Health First Aid Course.

  • Participant will receive a set of Mental Health First Aid Manuals (Standard Edition).

 Course Content

Session 1

What is Mental Health First Aid?

  •  Intervention in Mental Health First Aid.

  • The five key actions in Mental Health First Aid.

  • What is depression?

  • Causes of depression

Session 2

Emergency response for depression

  • How to assist individuals at risk of suicide.

  • Bipolar disorder.

  • What is anxiety disorder?

  • Causes of anxiety disorder.


Session 3 

Anxiety disorder and substance abuse

  • Emergency response for anxiety disorder.

  • How to assist individuals with anxiety disorder in dealing with panic attacks.

  • What is substance abuse?

  • Key interventions for individuals with substance abuse.

Session 4

What is severe mental illness?

  • Schizophrenia and psychotic disorders.

  • Treatment and key interventions for severe mental illness.

  • Reducing the occurrence of violent behavior.

  • Community resources for assisting individuals with mental illness or in recovery.

  • Quiz, summary, and review.
